Zizri Valley
Sights/Landmarks
Zizri is one of the most beautiful valleys in Ziarat. The valley is located to the south of Ziarat town at a distance of 12 km. A single road about 1.5 km from Prospect Point will take you to the valley, after a drive that includes a 2 km stretch through the forest. The picturesque valley, with its yellowish rock, forms a contrasting backdrop for the green juniper trees that grow among the rocks and on the valley floor. What is distinctive about Zizri are the very old, large junipers that grow in the valley. The aromatic ziziphora, used as a remedy for colds and influenza, is also abundant here, spread over the valley floor like a green carpet. Especially during the rainy season, the fragrance of this medicinal plant is an experience not to be missed. The Zizri valley is good for a day trip and for camping.
Zizri huts
Set in a wide clearing, the three buildings with their red pitched roofs look out of place amid the junipers trees and thatched dwellings of the locals. But this rest house, managed by the district government, is an excellent alternative to accommodation in Ziarat town. At the Zizri huts, the only sound guests are likely to hear is birdsong and the only smell is that of the forest. It is the perfect retreat for the naturalist, a good base from which to explore the Zizri valley and ideal as a kick-off point for a climb to the Khilafat peak.
