larkana
Larkana, also known as "Eden of Sindh" is a city in northwest Sindh, where the historic Indus River flows south of the city. Formerly known as 'Chandka', Larkana is located on the south bank of "Ghar canal". Being the hometown of many political Larkana, it exercises a country-wide influence.
Larkana is home to world's most ancient archaeological site of Indus Valley Civilization called "Mohenjo-daro" located about 28 km away from the city - short drive from Larkana or Sukkur. These sites have shown signs of democratic people, who lived more than 5,000 years ago. Alexander The Great attacked Sindh in 330 B.C. After the Greeks, Sindh was ruled by Gupta dynasty from 320 CE to 525 CE. It was in this period that Larkana was named as Chandka. Larkano city is purely the result of construction of Canal “Ghaar Wah”. In late 16th century, Kalhora started their rule and Sindhi language rose to its peak. After end of Kalhora rule, the period of Talpurs came. |

Sights
The mazar at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh is notable for containing the graves of the Bhutto family and being the burial place of Zulfiqar, Murtaza, Nusrat, and Benazir Bhutto.

Mohenjo-daro is an archeological site built around 2600 BC. It was one of the largest settlements of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, and one of the world's earliest major urban settlements.

Jhokar Jo Daro is another archaelological site in the district, proving the Aryans came to Sindh. It is located 10km west of Larkana.

Government Pilot Higher Secondary School is located in Larkana, Pakistan. It was built in 1926 by the British Government, when they ruled over Sindh.

Hamal Lake has a surface area of 2,965 acres (1,200 ha). It is a freshwater lake and the main source of water are the streams coming from the Kirthar Mountains.

Ataturk Tower is a monument gifted by Turkish founder Mustafa Kamal Atatürk on a visit to Larkana.

Jinnah Bagh, originally known as Tajar Bagh, was constructed during the rule of the Kalhora Empire. This garden houses the historical monument ‘Tajar’.

Sukarno Tower is built in the middle of the town. This monument was presented by the Indonesian president Sukarno on visit to Larkana.
