Lakes of Dubbi

Village Dubbi is situated in Tehsil Thari Mirwah. This is a beautiful village located in between Mirwah canal and sandy mounds of Thar Desert. These lakes are 65km away from Khairpur city and only 10 km from Thari Mirwah city. These lakes are located on the bank of Thar Desert and the golden sand makes it very beautiful. In winter beautiful birds from Siberia and other northern countries come to these lakes and in summer they go back to their home. The small fish of these lakes is a popular dish with the people of the village.
According to Archaeologists these lakes were used by Talpur rulers for hunting of birds and wild life animals and fishing. These areas were declared as “Miran Ji Muhari” that means area is property of Rulers. Before 1950 these lakes were very small in size, and there were forests nearby. Many animals were found in the forest like stag deer, pig, jackal, rabbit, fox and wolves; unfortunately there is no forest anymore.

People use these lakes for birds hunting and fishing. Tarai, Talab and other hill areas are also popular for the bird hunting. Many tourist come here every year. Ex-President Ayub Khan also visited this village for the hunting purpose. Shaikh's of UAE come in this area every year for hunting.
Bakri Waro Lake: Bakri Waro means “Owner of Goat”. This lake has a 100 meters tall mound “Bakri Waro Daro” is in the southern bank of the lake and is the tallest in the area. It is a beautiful lake with a large number of migrated birds and a third of the area has green trees. The lake is triangular in shape, water depth is 3.6m and area is 1,200 sq km. From the northern and western side of this lake, you can see the other 6 lakes.
Khuth Lake: It is the largest lake of the area covering 1600 sq m and is located near Khandoo Khan and Haji Mevo Jiskani mohallas of Dubbi. Fish and birds are also residents of this big lake. Fresh water from the Mirwah canal flows from the south western side called as “Kadan Wari Kund” - meaning corner of Kadan. The lake is 3m deep, with Katan Waro, Mehranian Wari Kund and kadan wari kund as the main parts of this lake. The lake is surrounded by trees like kikar, booh, khabar, khip and pan.
Wadi Sim: It is the deepest lake of the area at 4.5m, and is located east of all the lakes. There are many fish and migratory migrated birds here. It is a salt water lake, and covers 700 sq m. Wadi means Big due to its depth.
Jamal Shah Lake: It is famous as the water of this lake is believed to treat skin diseases, and many people from all over Sindh come to bathe in this lake. The covered area of lake is 600 sq m.
The tomb and shrine of Jamal Shah is located on the bank of Jamal Shah lake. Origin of Pir Jamal Shah is unknown.
Tal Lake: The lake is situated in the north of all lakes, close to Village Tali. The size of the lake is 800 sq meters and 3m deep. The name of the lake comes from Tal (gross) which grows in the water of this lake.
Wero Lake: It is situated closest to Dubbi, is 500 sq m and 2m deep.
Ganairo Lake: This is most eastern lake of this beautiful area. There is a large amount of salt under the water of this lake. People of the area dig salt for home use.
