The Jheel Park or Society Jheel Park is situated near Tariq Road in P.E.C.H. S in Karachi. The park is constructed on 25 acres (100,000 m sq) of land. There is a natural pond of water in the park where in the past people hunted migratory birds.
The park was created on what was once a dead swamp with 15 acres of the land encroached on and the rest being used as garbage dump. The Park was constructed a few feet below normal ground which makes it cooler. Stretched over an area far greater than two football fields combined, Jheel Park is a refreshing and soothing place to be.
The park also has a wonderful mini bridge with a pond where you will find frogs and tadpoles jumping around. On and off, there is also a movie screening conducted in the evenings to entertain the general public. Seating arrangement at the park is also commendable with plenty of roofed huts so that people can also enjoy the park in the rainy seasons or sheltered from the sun. It is a preferred choice for families and individuals who like to take their morning/evening walk in the park. The park is not restricted to the locality and is open to all with no entry charges.
